Welcome to Webster!
You have made a great decision to attend Webster to begin creating your incredible future! Faculty and Staff are excited for your arrival on campus for the first day of Orientation! Orientation gives you a place to begin building relationships with classmates, faculty and staff. It is mandatory for all students new to Webster to attend Orientation. Your family members are also welcome to join. Below you will find some things to get you prepared for your arrival to Webster Thailand!
Pre-Register for Orientation
Even if you are attending orientation in-person, you are required to pre-register with Student Affairs.
At Webster Thailand, we understand the difficulties traveling in a foreign country may pose where English is not the first language, so we provide FREE Airport Pick-up Service from Monday - Wednesday on the week of Orientation (For Example, If Orientation is on Thursday, 26 August, Airport Pick-up period will be from Monday, 23 - Wednesday 25 August). If your flights come on different dates, there are many public taxis available along with the underground MRT Railway.
Not only do we provide the transportation, we also send a Student Ambassador to pick you up at the airport. Your student ambassador will be waiting for you at Gate Number 3 of Suvarnabhumi Airport Arrivals/Don Mueang Airport Arrivals Area with a sign that says Webster University.
Please make sure to go straight to meet the ambassador who will assist you in getting a SIM Card, exchanging money and calling your family back home.
How to Find the Student Ambassador
1. On the plane, you will receive an arrival/departure card - Fill the ARRIVAL Card in full detail.
2. Once you exit the plane, follow the directions to the Immigration and get in queue. The Immigration Officer will take the Arrival Card and keep the Departure Card in your Passport. DO NOT LOSE THIS PAPER.
3. You will then reach the baggage area. Collect your Baggage and exit to the Arrivals Section.
4. The doors will have the numbers on them. Find Gate#3 Meeting Point and look for a Webster University Student Ambassador.
5. Once you meet the Student Ambassador, let them know what you need to do (buy a SIM Card, call your family, exchange money, buy food etc.). Once you are done, the Student Ambassador will take you to the van to go to housing.
6. The Student Ambassador will drop you to the housing and hand you over to our Resident Assistant who will assist you further.
WHAT TO BRING TO THAILAND?
Be Weather Wise
Thailand fluctuates between two weathers - hot and hotter - so everywhere you go the Aircon is usually open in full blast to deal with the heat. While packing for your stay in Thailand, get yourself a few light jackets and some long pants as well - don't just pack for the beach and the streets, it can get very chilly indoors!
New students at housing are provided with 1 set of bed linens and 1 blanket. Our rooms at housing are also equipped with microwave, TV, cupboard, toilet & shower, study table and Aircon. An outdoor common cooking space is provided but students must purchase their own cooking utensils and materials. For additional things you may need, you can purchase them at the local malls.
Remember the Essentials
Please don't forget to bring your original transcripts if you have not yet submitted them to the Admissions Office. Make sure to carry at least 600$ (or equivalent in any other currency) in case you are asked to show proof of funding at the immigration. If you are on any medication, please make sure to carry enough supplies.
